Listen Up - District Noise Edition

I was at a puppet thing one morning. There was a box of these records in the kitchen. They were only $10. I bought two of them, figuring I would pass one along to my buddy, Jerr when I went to go visit him in the near future. I visited him in the near future and forgot to bring it. Not long after, he came down to DC, so it was easy enough to give it to him then. But we did not listen it to it, because neither of our partners are big noise fans.

So, shortly after he returned home, we unsealed our copies and dropped the needle at the same time. We finished side one at two different times however, because we listened to it at two different speeds. We both enjoyed it.

We shared our impressions via text massaging. Being a compilation, the reactions had quite a range.

  • “This one brings the whacky”

  • “I could have lived in the scenery of that first one for a long time”

  • “Makes me think of the views in Iceland”

  • “Bouncier than I guessed”

  • “Feels like music for a religious ceremony”

  • “ A tiny world of Machines and Flowers”

  • “Reminds me of Nurse With Wound”

  • “Lovely Scrapy sounds”

  • “Quite Disorienting”
